Florence and the Machine – You Got the Love

Carrying on the covers theme of recent ‘7 inches of week’, this week’s is Candi Stanton’s classic You Got the Love covered by Florence and the Machine (and then remixed by The XX).
‘You Got the Love’ was originally released in ‘86 but was never a big hit; it was made famous in the early 90’s by UK act The Source, who combined Stanton’s acapella with an instrumental version of the Frankie Knuckles/Jamie Principle house song “Your Love”, itself a stripped down version of the italo-disco track Feels Good (Carrots and Beets) by Electra featuring Tara Butler.
