Shades – Political
On June 7th the election for the European Parliament takes place in Germany and some more of the 27 member states that didn´t vote the 3 days before. Here in Berlin posters all over town try telling us what party would be best to vote for.

Under their motto “future is bright, gotta wear shades” 11null makes use of those posters. Or 11null stickers “give those boring posters a futuristic note”, as cofounder Valentin likes to describe it. Only a week ago the Berlin based 11null team started to give those stickers out and the people already spread them all over, while Berliners are going political, the Copenhagen crowd opted for musical intervention.

The shades themselves don’t have a frame, nor sides. When they are not used they curl up and fit into a photonegative box. They are made of a foil-like material, which usually finds usage in medical areas and highly protects from UVA-A and UVA-B radiation. Their style reminds me of the Matrix gang.

Hopefully politicians and everybody take a bit of the slogans positivism and do not make usage of the shades as blinkers.

I had hoped that this article would be more in reference to the song “My Future’s So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades” by Timbuk 3 released in 1986.
Instead of being a political movement it’s vandalism disguised as witty marketing. Or is it witty marketing disguised as vandalism– either way…

I saw these stickers in Berlin as well and found them pretty fun. The smart thing is that you find them on other “illegaly” posted bills like the one in Copenhagen.
So may I ask another question as well: Is it vandalism to flip a burning cigarette into a fire?
As for the election bills I think it is the same as in France: They are financed by tax money and party donations. So in fact, every citizen has payed for some bills out of her/his own pocket and should be allowed to spice them up a bit! I wish I had a few to decorate Paris with them…
